Legal Notice and Privacy/Cookie Information

A summary of the unofficial fan-site notice and browser storage behavior users should know before launch.

Unofficial Fan-Site Notice

HOI4 Tools is an unofficial fan-made tool site for Hearts of Iron IV. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or approved by Paradox Interactive AB. Hearts of Iron IV and related trademarks, game data, and game assets belong to Paradox Interactive AB.

This site is a fan-made tool that organizes game data to make design calculations easier to understand. It is not official material or a service from Paradox Interactive.

Icons and Game Images

Hearts of Iron IV game icons and images are used only as non-commercial fan content to identify and explain equipment, units, modules, and game systems.

Rights to those game images, game data, trademarks, and related material belong to Paradox Interactive AB or the relevant rights holders. HOI4 Tools does not own those rights and has not received official usage approval.

External images are not hotlinked and are managed as site assets. If images from wikis, communities, or public sources are added, their source, license, or usage rationale should be recorded separately and reviewed if a rights holder requests changes or removal.

Privacy

HOI4 Tools currently has no login, account creation, payment, or feature that intentionally collects personally identifying information.

The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand usage. This analytics feature is cookie-free and anonymous, and may provide aggregate information such as visited pages, referrers, browser, device, and region-level data.

If advertising, affiliate links, account features, payment features, or cookie-based tracking are introduced later, this notice will be updated and any required consent flow will be added.

Cookie Storage

Saved division, plane, and ship designs store design data only in a browser cookie. This may include names, categories, tags, selected units/modules, research settings, and doctrine settings.

The cookie is intended to avoid sensitive information. If a cookie exceeds size limits or contains damaged data, the app ignores it as safely as possible.

Because this cookie is written on the client, it cannot use the HttpOnly attribute. In production HTTPS environments it uses Secure, SameSite=Lax, and path=/ options.

Vercel Web Analytics does not use a separate cookie, and HOI4 Tools currently does not use advertising or affiliate tracking cookies.
